How to translate video to Hindi
- Open the dubbing card at opendub.app, in the browser on a computer or an Android phone. On an iPhone, see below.
- Choose the video. A video file from your own device, up to five minutes long.
- Leave Spoken in on Auto-detect, or choose English.
- Check that Dub into says हिन्दी. The links on this page open the card with हिन्दी already chosen.
- Choose the free voice. On a computer it is the option marked Free voice and In this browser; on an Android phone it is the Free voice marked On this phone.
- Start the dub. The button reads Dub in this browser, free on a computer, or Dub on this phone, free on Android. The first dub downloads up to about 750 MB of models, once; your browser keeps them for the next video.
- Download the result.
A video translator, English to Hindi, on your own device
Most people looking for a video translator English to Hindi want to hear the video in Hindi, not only read it. That is what OpenDub does. With the free voice, every step runs in the page: Whisper transcribes the English speech; each sentence is translated into Hindi, by Chrome's own translator where the browser has one, otherwise by an English-to-Hindi model (opus-mt-en-hi) that downloads once; a stock voice that speaks Hindi reads each line; and the lines are fitted back into the video. Nothing needs a key, and trying it needs no account; downloading the dub takes a free sign-in.
Where you can translate video to Hindi for free
- On a computer, in the browser. Free with the stock voice. If your browser cannot run it, the card says so before you start and suggests Chrome, Edge or Firefox.
- On an Android phone, in the browser. Free with the stock voice, which runs on the phone.
- On an iPhone. The free voice is still a preview there. To try it, open opendub.app/?phonevoice=1. Without that, the page on an iPhone offers to send the link to your computer.
Hindi to English works too
The other direction is free in the same way: a Hindi video can be dubbed into English with a Hindi-to-English model (opus-mt-hi-en), in the same card. Choose English under Dub into. For that direction, see Translate video to English.
What you get when you translate video to Hindi
- The dubbed video, with the speech in Hindi.
- The dub audio as WAV.
- Subtitles as SRT, in Hindi and in the original language.
Limits when you translate video to Hindi for free
- It is a stock voice, not a clone of the speaker.
- The original voice is turned down under the Hindi, not removed.
- Up to five minutes per video in the browser. The OpenDub app on your computer has no length limit.
- The free translation models cover English to Hindi and Hindi to English. For Hindi and another language, the free route may have no translator for that pair.
- It does not change the lips in the picture.
- It works on a video file on your device, not on a link to a video online.
To keep the speaker's own voice
A clone of the speaker's voice needs a different voice model: OmniVoice in the free OpenDub app on your computer, for non-commercial use, or your own Higgs Audio or ElevenLabs key in the browser, paid to that provider. The video translator page explains each one.
Is the video uploaded?
No. When you translate video to Hindi with the free voice, speech recognition, translation and the voice all run in your browser, and the video stays on your device. The privacy page has the details.
This is the same AI dubbing as on the OpenDub home page. To change a video into a language other than Hindi, see the video language changer.
